Maryland County, Liberia, March 7, 2025 – Police in Harper City, Maryland County, are interrogating a 20-year-old woman, Ruth Teah, for allegedly squeezing her boyfriend’s testicles to the point of cracking and leaving him with severe injuries.
The victim, Ezekiel Bedell, is currently receiving medication at J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper, while the perpetrator is detained at the Women and Children session of the Harper Police Station, pending investigation.
Suspect Ruth Teah was picked up on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Harper. According to police sources, the alleged perpetrator argues that her boyfriend, Ezekiel Bedell, did not complain to the Police, so she’s confused about what led to her arrest.
In an interactive discussion with Miss Ruth Teah, while in Police custody, she notes that she has no idea why she was arrested but quickly confirms that her boyfriend, Ezekiel, is receiving serious medical attention at the J.J. Dossen Hospital.
However, she maintains that the police have no right to arrest or investigate her and her boyfriend as long as they did not complain to them.
On the other hand, Mr. Bedell is said to be currently unconscious in hospital, struggling for survival.
Meanwhile, Miss Mariah Suku, Maryland County’s gender coordinator, and Bonifaci Nyema, the head of the Independent National Human Rights Commission office in Harper, have taken charge of the case.
Community members testified that the situation happened when Mr. Ezekiel Bedell arrived home at night, and Ruth accused him of having another relationship outside.
“While they were auguring, we heard noise, but before we got there, his testicles had already come out”, residents narrate.
At the moment, Police are awaiting a doctor’s report on the health status of Mr. Ezekiel Bedell to continue the investigation. Editing by Jonathan Browne
