Women Drug Enforcers Induct New Leadership

DEAWA, the women’s organization of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), celebrated a significant milestone with the induction of its newly elected leadership. According to a press release dated January 28, 2025, the event, held at the LDEA headquarters, showcasing DEAWA’s commitment to unity, capacity building, equality, and equity within law enforcement. The release said the elections which took place on September 30, 2024, culminated in today’s induction ceremony of the new leadership.

The Elected Officials include: Jenneh Blama, President , J. Welleh Bropleh Vice President ,Lulu Yei Rogers ,General Secretary , Bendu H. Bayoh Financial Secretary ,Samettie N. Chea Treasurer, and Caroline Garmondeh Chaplain .

The Director General of the LDEA officiated the induction ceremony and delivered a compelling speech reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusion.

He pledged his support to the leadership and highlighted the critical role women play as equal partners in law enforcement. Encouraging innovation and critical thinking, he emphasized the agency’s dedication to fostering an environment where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national security efforts.

The event was graced by representatives from the Liberia Female Law Enforcement Association (LIFLEA), the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), and the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation women’s arm. Each representative commended DEAWA for its seamless leadership transition and encouraged the organization to maintain its spirit of togetherness.

Newly inducted President Jenneh Blama expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Director General, former Officer-in-Charge Christopher Peters, and the election commission for their invaluable support and guidance throughout the process. She extended an olive branch to the opposing candidate, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration within DEAWA.

President Blama also pledged to build on DEAWA’s foundation, working toward strengthening the organization and enhancing opportunities for women in the LDEA. The induction ceremony, attended by women across various ranks and locations, was a celebration of resilience, progress, and commitment to leadership.
