PHEBE, Bong County, April 30, 2026 – Tension erupted at Phebe Hospital on Tuesday during a preliminary investigation meeting after staff members disagreed with a decision allowing three senior officials under review to remain in office while an inquiry is conducted.
The meeting, held at the hospital’s outpatient department, focused on concerns surrounding the possible removal of the hospital administrator, the Human Resource Officer, and another senior official.
The investigation team informed workers that the process would last between 21 and 30 days and that the three officials would continue managing the hospital during that period.
The decision was met with resistance from some employees, who expressed dissatisfaction with the arrangement.
Michael Thomas, Vice President of the Phebe Hospital Workers Association, proposed that the officials step aside temporarily while the investigation continues and that an acting team be appointed.
His proposal was immediately rejected by a senior member of the investigation team.
The response triggered frustration among several staff members, prompting some to walk out of the meeting in protest.
Calm was later restored after Bishop Padmore appealed to the workers to return, allowing the meeting to continue without further disruption.
The investigation is expected to determine the next steps regarding the hospital’s leadership.
