Gbarnga, Bong County, March 5, 2025/ The Youth Transforming Africa Narrative (YOTAN), with support from its implementing partners, has presented back bags and dozens of copy books to over 30 less fortunate students at the government-run John Flomo Bakalu High School in Gbarnga.

YOTAN is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to championing youth empowerment and fostering effective governance, which leads to sustainable socio-economic development and impact.

They aimed to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive, and accountable democratic society in Africa to ensure young people can thrive and achieve their full potential.

The items donated are part of Yotan’s ongoing project titled ‘ Empowering Next Generation of Adolescent Girls Through Education (ENGAGE), ’ which began in 2019 and supports more than 120 girls from two of Liberia’s fifteen counties.

The project aims to provide full tuition aid, educational materials to underprivileged students from Bong and Lofa counties respectively, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all girls, especially the marginalized and vulnerable ones.

YOTAN’s primary focus is to ensure easy access to education for school dropouts because of teenage pregnancy and a way of empowering them in the fight against early child marriage.

The project is being sponsored by Mundo Cooperate, a Spanish institution vigorously campaigning against early and forceful child marriage.

YOTAN believes that the items donated will liberate marginalized and vulnerable girls from their prolonged calamities.

Presenting the items Mr. Donnish M. Pewee, the Executive Director in Liberia reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting adolescent and marginalized girls across Liberia.

He also called on the government to make concerted efforts to drive tangible progress towards inclusive and equitable education.

Meanwhile, receiving the items, beneficiaries extended gratitude to YOTAN for the kind gesture, describing the donation as a big boost to their educational sojourn.- Edited by Othello B. Garblah.
