MONROVIA, July 28, 2026 — The Salvation Army has dedicated a new training college for officers and pastors serving its Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Territory.
Officials said the facility would strengthen spiritual leadership, support community outreach and expand the organization’s mission across the three countries.
The dedication was led by the Salvation Army’s worldwide Chief of Staff, Commissioner Edward Hill, and World Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Commissioner Shelley Hill, who are visiting Liberia from the United Kingdom.
Commissioner Edward Hill said the college would train officers and pastors to serve throughout the territory.
“Those officers or pastors who will be trained will be used to promote the Kingdom of God on Earth and rescue those who are lost,” he said.
Hill urged Salvationists in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to make full use of the facility and recruit more people to advance the organization’s mission.
Commissioner Shelley Hill encouraged more women to enroll at the college and prepare themselves to make disciples and expand the work of the church.
She also commended the leadership of the three-country territory for implementing programs that benefit communities.
Explaining the Salvation Army’s uniform, she said the letter “S” worn by Salvationists means “Saved to Serve.”
She added that the organization’s religious and humanitarian work has helped people overcome various challenges.
Providing a history of the project, Assistant Chief Secretary and Development Officer Major John E. Bundu said the site previously formed part of the Territorial Headquarters established after the Salvation Army began operating in Liberia in 1988 under Captains Brian and Dorothy Knightly.
Bundu said a fire in November 2020 destroyed the building, which housed three officers and their families.
“In 2022, a project was designed to solicit funds for the reconstruction of the building into a more fascinating structure than the previous one,” he said.
According to Bundu, the Salvation Army’s USA Eastern, USA Southern and USA Central territories provided financial support for the project.
Speaking on behalf of the regional leadership, Territorial Commander Lt. Col. Luka Khayumbi welcomed the visiting commissioners and pledged to use the facility to strengthen the organization’s spiritual and social programs.
“The leadership will do everything possible to improve the territory in all directions, both spiritually and socially,” Khayumbi said.
Salvationists from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea attended the dedication and described the college as an important investment in leadership development and community outreach.
