KAKATA, Margibi County — Reports from Kakata indicate that a mass prison break has occurred at the Kakata Central Prison, with a large number of inmates reportedly escaping the facility.
An eyewitness who spoke to a reporter from outside the prison compound said numerous inmates were seen fleeing into nearby neighborhoods and bushes.
The eyewitness described the escapees as appearing violent and warned that they could confront anyone who attempted to stand in their way.
The reporter said that, so far, only one inmate has reportedly been recaptured. The circumstances surrounding the prison break, including the number of inmates who escaped and how they managed to flee, remain unclear.
Prison authorities have yet to comment on the incident and have remained tight-lipped as developments unfold.
