A war of words is intensifying between Bong County District #6 Representative Moima Briggs Mensah and expelled Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah, following corruption allegations and demands for retraction.
Speaking on Saturday to a gathering of predominantly women at the Salala Administrative Building in Salala City, Representative Mensah firmly rejected calls by Kolubah to withdraw her earlier statement in which she described him as “the most corrupt” lawmaker she has encountered in the Legislature.
Mensah earlier accused the former Montserrado lawmaker of prioritizing personal interests over national duty, alleging that he undermines colleagues while courting media attention.
She further claimed that Kolubah portrays himself as virtuous in public while engaging in corrupt practices behind the scenes.
In a pointed remark about his alleged wealth, Mensah challenged Kolubah to focus on managing properties she claimed he owns abroad, including in Ghana and Dubai.
Kolubah had earlier responded to the allegations by demanding a retraction within a specified timeframe ending Saturday, April 25, warning that failure to comply would prompt him to launch a public attack on Mensah’s character. He insisted that such serious accusations must be substantiated with evidence.
However, Mensah has doubled down on her position, stating she is prepared for any verbal retaliation. Addressing supporters, she declared that unlike others, she is not intimidated by Kolubah and is ready to respond should he follow through on his threats.
In her words,”They lazy, they not coming, they only know how to go on Facebook and cuss me and me pa, I can only cuss the people that cussing women that why make it you see me challenging Yekeh these few days. Everybody afraid of him, but me, I na afraid of him. Sunday, he say he will cuss me. I am waiting for him to cuss me on Sunday. I will descend on him on Monday.”
The dispute is expected to escalate further, with Mensah indicating she will publicly respond on Monday, April 27.
Kolubah’s recent expulsion from the House of Representatives followed an internal investigation into allegations of treason linked to his comments on the Liberia-Guinea border dispute.
The ongoing confrontation between the two lawmakers has drawn significant public attention, highlighting deepening divisions and rising tensions within Liberia’s political landscape.
