MONROVIA – Solicitor General, Cllr. Augustine C. Fayiah, has called for renewed commitment to professionalism, accountability, and community partnership within the Liberia National Police (LNP), describing the institution’s newly launched Strategic Plan as a blueprint for strengthening public confidence in law enforcement and advancing the rule of law.

Speaking on Thursday, July 2, on behalf of Minister of Justice and Attorney General Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, at the official launch of the Liberia National Police Strategic Plan 2026–2030, Fayiah said the five-year framework represents far more than an administrative document. Instead, he characterized it as a roadmap for transforming the LNP into a modern, accountable, and people-centered police service capable of effectively responding to Liberia’s evolving security challenges.

Addressing government officials, members of the Liberia National Police, development partners, and invited guests, the Solicitor General emphasized that restoring and maintaining public trust must remain central to the implementation of the strategic plan.

He stressed that a professional police service is built not only on effective law enforcement but also on respect for the rule of law, institutional integrity, and meaningful engagement with the communities it serves.

“As we move forward, let us remain committed to strengthening public trust, respecting the rule of law, enhancing the capacity of our officers, and working closely with our communities to keep Liberia safe and secure,” Fayiah said.

The Solicitor General further underscored the importance of investing in the capacity of police officers while promoting integrity, transparency, and cooperation among national security institutions and citizens.

According to him, effective policing depends on strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the public, noting that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through collective responsibility and mutual confidence.

Fayiah reaffirmed the Ministry of Justice’s support for reforms aimed at improving policing standards and ensuring that the Liberia National Police remains responsive to the needs of the public while upholding justice and protecting the rights of all citizens.

He concluded by encouraging officers, government institutions, and development partners to work together in implementing the strategic objectives outlined in the 2026–2030 plan.

“Together, through dedication, integrity, and partnership, we can build a safer nation where every citizen enjoys peace, justice, and security,” he stated.

The launch of the Liberia National Police Strategic Plan 2026–2030 comes as the government seeks to strengthen law enforcement capacity, improve public confidence in the police, and enhance institutional reforms designed to address emerging security challenges across the country. The strategic framework is expected to guide the operations and development of the Liberia National Police over the next five years, with a focus on professionalism, accountability, operational effectiveness, and stronger community policing initiatives.
