Samuel L. Kartee, Chairman of the Unity Party (UP) Nimba County Youth Congress, has resigned from both his leadership position and membership in the governing party, citing pressing family engagements.
Kartee’s resignation takes immediate effect, according to a formal communication addressed to D. Nelson Boarngar, Chairman of the UP Nimba County Chapter.
“Please accept my compliments and sincerely hereby tender my resignation as both member and Chairman of the Unity Party (UP)-Nimba County Youth Congress with immediate effect due to pressing family engagements,” Kartee stated.
The outgoing youth chairman described his decision as difficult, while expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Unity Party and contribute to its growth and the representation of young people through the Nimba County Youth Congress.
Kartee said his years of service to the Unity Party, spanning from 2005 to 2026, afforded him “invaluable experiences, meaningful relationships and lessons” that he would cherish.
He also extended his appreciation to President Joseph N. Boakai, whom he described as the First Partisan of the Unity Party, the leadership of the party, his colleagues, and members and supporters of the Nimba County Youth Congress for the confidence, cooperation and support accorded him during his tenure.
Kartee’s resignation leaves a leadership vacancy within the UP-Nimba County Youth Congress, with the party expected to determine the next steps regarding the leadership of the youth structure.
Meanwhile, inside sources have linked Kartee’s resignation to the recent expulsion of Senator Samuel Kogar from the Unity Party, describing the senator as Kartee’s political godfather.
According to the sources, Kartee was reportedly dissatisfied with the circumstances surrounding Kogar’s expulsion and subsequently decided to resign his position and membership from the party.
The sources further alleged that Kogar’s expulsion was orchestrated by elements within the Unity Party, although the allegation could not be independently verified.
Kartee, however, did not reference Senator Kogar or his expulsion in his resignation letter, instead citing pressing family engagements as the reason for his departure.
The Unity Party and Kartee had not publicly commented on the allegations linking his resignation to the expulsion of Senator Kogar as of press time.
