Ganta, Nimba County July 4, 2024 – – A 62-year-old man reportedly commits suicide in Gbloryee Community, Ganta, Nimba County, because of alleged rejection by his daughter.

The late Williams Paye Tokpa reportedly hung himself with a rope right in his yard in the community, suspected before dawn of day, as residents woke up the next day to their amazement to see the 62-year-old father’s remains dangling under a tree in his year.

Some residents disclosed that before allegedly taking his own life, the late Williams Paye Tokpa had informed some community members that his daughter, identified as Josephine Tokpa, rejected him in Monrovia.

He said he left Ganta and came to Monrovia to participate in her daughter’s birthday celebration, but she rejected him for unexplained reasons.

After Josephine Tokpa rejected him, the late Williams Paye Tokpa returned to Ganta and told community members about the negative reception his daughter had given him in Monrovia.

Alice Dolo, a resident of Gbloryee Community, told the NEW DAWN that they woke up early Sunday morning, June 30, 2024, and saw the body of  Mr. Tokpa hanging under a tree in the deceased’s yard.

“Our children wake up early Sunday morning to do their housework and get ready for church when they discovered the body of Williams Paye Tokpa”, Alice narrates.

The deceased used his own yard to carry out the act. Some of his renters in the yard told reporters that they only saw their landlord’s body hanging the following day.

Report says more than ten people have died in Nimba County in suicide-related acts in less than five months this year, involving mostly men in their late ages. Editing by Jonathan Browne
