Truth be told, despite sustained efforts by the new political administration to justify its competence and commitment to bettering the living standards of citizens, many Liberians consider 2024 a year that locusts have eaten, without any achievement or growth, personally and nationally, to point to.
Citizens feel this way, in part, because there was a change of national political guards, there was a wait-and-see attitude on the part of international partners in disbursing grants and donations, there was uncertainty amongst citizens regarding the deafening noises in the public space with little or no social services provided – all combined to make the year an excess baggage in the space of age.
But all was not lost; there were heroes and a heroine whose stewardships and tenacity at work put smiles on the faces of many, on the Mother Liberia, to feel that all was not lost, that there were simmering ambers radiating the doom of the year.
These personalities, these crèmes de crème, as they worked themselves out to be, were found within the Liberian public and private domains to be the shining lights of the rather dark nights of the year, thus qualifying them to be THE ANALYST’s 2024 Awardees.
