NPHIL HOLDS SUCCESSFUL IMS MEETING AS LIBERIA TACKLES MPOX, LASSA, AND MEASLES OUTBREAKS

MONROVIA – The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) held a successful Incident Management System (IMS) meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at its headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia. The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to manage multiple public health threats, including Mpox, Lassa fever, and measles outbreaks in the country.

Following the meeting, NPHIL’s Director-General, Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, expressed his appreciation for the progress made. “Another successful Incident Management System (IMS) Meeting at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia-NPHIL to contain #Mpox; while simultaneously responding to Lassa, Measles, and other pathogens of interest to keep the population safe,” Dr. Nyan stated.

He also extended gratitude to the Government of Liberia for its support, specifically the budgetary allotment that has enabled NPHIL to carry out its work. “Thanks to the Government of Liberia for the budgetary allotment; and, to our collaborating Partners for the continuous assistance,” he said.

Dr. Nyan further acknowledged the media’s role in providing accurate information about the institute’s efforts. “Thanks to the collaborating Press for the accurate reporting thus far as NPHIL continues the Awareness, Sensitization, and provision of pertinent information,” he concluded.

The meeting comes at a critical time as Liberia faces concurrent public health challenges. NPHIL remains focused on ensuring a coordinated response to safeguard the population, working closely with international partners and the government.
