Tubman University hosts the largest chapter of the River Gee University Students Association.

Monrovia, October 3, 2024: The River Gee Universities Students Union (RIGUSU) leadership has been accused of marginalizing members at the Tubman University (TU), the group’s largest chapter.

Since receiving US$25,000 during the last county sitting in 2022, the RIGUSU leadership has yet to allocate any funds to the Tubman University chapter.

The RIGUSU leadership is currently collaborating with ten universities across Liberia, but the Tubman University chapter remains the only one without its portion of the funds.

Tubman University hosts the most significant chapter of the River Gee University Students Association.

However, the current leadership of RIGUSU has been accused of allegedly ignoring the Tubman University chapter.

In April of this year, the aggrieved party sent a communication to the River Gee County Legislative Caucus chairperson, Senator Jonathan Boy Charles Sogbie, but it has not received a response yet.

As the leadership of RIGUSU works to secure funds from the Cavalla Rubber Company, which operates in River Gee County, there are potential benefits for the students of the region.

However, it appears that the primary goal of the current student’s leadership, led by president Benson Karma, is to collect these funds for personal use.

In the meantime, the students at Tubman University from River Gee County are urging the county authorities, including the lawmakers of River Gee County, to investigate this matter.

They want the county leaders to address the alleged negligence of the RIGUSU leadership.

They noted that they deserve fair treatment, and it is crucial for the authorities to ensure that the student’s interests are protected and prioritized.
