An expatriate of ArcelorMittal Liberia has been found dead in his bedroom in Yekepa, Nimba County under strange circumstances.

Yekepa, Liberia, November 22, 2024 – An employee of ArcelorMittal-Liberia has been found dead at the company’s mining facility in Yekepa, Nimba County.
The cause of death of the deceased expatriate is yet to be established, but his remains have been deposited at ArclorMittal-Liberia hospital in Yekepa, sparking public concern in the industrial towns.
The 55-year-old victim has been identified as a South African, John H. Davis. He was discovered dead and naked in his room located at Mount Torkadi Power System Service (PSS) Camp.
The NEW DAWN gathered that prior to his death, the late John H. Davis had suffered from Stomach Ulcer, which was treated, but it seems to have resurfaced.
He was lastly seen complaining of his stomach while with some friends, but they all reportedly left and went to their individual accommodation only to discover him dead the next day with his entire room messed up with feces, while lying in his bed naked.
The deceased’s body is at ArcelorMittal Liberia Hospital in Yekepa, Nimba County, awaiting further investigation.
The death of the 55year-old South African brings to two, the number of persons who have died under strange circumstances at the mountain being exploited by the mining company in less than a year.
Few months ago, a female truck operator, who was a resident of Sanniquellie City, Nimba, was involved in an incident, while transporting ores from the mount and died instantly.
Meanwhile, several affected communities of AML between Sanniquellie and Ganta, including various towns in District#8 are reportedly being hit by theft, involving rail materials that are being sold as scraps in Ganta, a commercial district. Editing by Jonathan Browne
