Bong County Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris, in collaboration with the County Council/ Bong Legislative Caucus, has made available 3 (three) New Vehicles for Officials in the County.
As approved by the Council, the US$75,000 allocated for the purchase of three vehicles, the decision has finally been utilized, and the vehicles have arrived and presented to the local leaders.
In the draft 2024 County Development Fund/County Social Development Fund budget, the Superintendent initially proposed US$100,000 for the purchase of four vehicles to serve the Superintendent, Development Officer, County Administrative Officer, and Finance Officer.
However, during the final budget hearing in early November 2024, the County Council reduced the allocation to US$75,000 and excluded the Superintendent from the list of beneficiaries.
Speaking at the turnover ceremony of the vehicles to local leaders, Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris lauded the effort of the County Council Chairman, Aaron Sackie Fenlah, and Bong County Legislative Caucus Chairman, Senator Prince Kermue Moye, for their level of cooperation for the overall development of the County.
The Bong County Superintendent said the procured vehicles will help her lieutenants in running the affairs of the County.
However, Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris assigned the blue JAC four-door pickup to the County Development Officer, Sedekie Kromah, the silver-colored JAC jeep to the County Finance Officer, Silas Tokpah, and the black JAC four-door pickup to the County Administrative Officer, Sam Elliott.
Madam Norris emphasized that despite her administration presenting a budget for four vehicles in the tone of US$100,000.00 during the November 2024 County Council Sitting, the County Council reduced said budget to US$75,000.00 for three vehicles.
Notwithstanding, during the presentation of the vehicles to her lieutenants, Superintendent Norris placed the cost of the vehicles as sixty-six thousand United States Dollars (US$66,000.00), adding “We didn’t use all the US$75,000.00 that was allocated for the purchase of vehicles.”
For his part, the Chairman of the County Council, Aaron Sackie Fenlah thanked Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris for the initiative.
He admonished the beneficiaries of the vehicles to use the vehicles for the purpose intended, noting that the vehicles were purchased with taxpayers’ money.
The Bong County Council Chairman described the procurement of the vehicles as a new beginning for the development of Bong County.
Mr. Fenlah, at the same time, assured Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris of the County Council’s leadership commitment to the overall betterment of the County.
Remarking, Sedekie Kromah, the County Development officer; Silas Tokpah, the County Financial officer; and Sam Elliott, the County administrative officer thanked the citizens of Bong County for the procurement of vehicles for their offices.
They committed themselves to working with Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris in undertaking more life-changing development for the people of Bong and Liberia at large.
