— Says gov’t, partners would ensure strengthened, reliable health care delivery system
Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, Dr. Catherine Cooper, has lauded Partners In Health (PIH) for its decade long invaluable services to Liberians across the country. Representing the Ministry of Health at an event in commemoration of PIH ten years anniversary in the country, Dr. Cooper conveyed messages from the Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Kpoto. She acknowledged PIH’s decade-long support in delivering essential health services, particularly in Maryland since 2014.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of the organization, Dr. Cooper highlighted their support in strengthening healthcare facilities in Maryland, including the county health team, JJ Dossen Hospital, Pleebo Health Center, and other health facilities.
She emphasized that the support extended by Partners In Health was not limited to Maryland but also extended nationwide. Dr. Cooper outlined the various forms of support provided by PIH, such as technical assistance, training of healthcare workers, and strengthening core services like laboratory services and health information systems.
She then pointed out that PIH provided significant support to TB annex hospital, technical and quality support to the Ministry Health to build partnership in training health workers including nurses, Physicians, laboratory technicians, Pharmaceutical staff and community health workers.
She also indicated that the organization has provided support in strengthening the core services; laboratory services, biomedical infrastructure, oxygen delivery and health information system.
“Partners in Health is a trusted partner of the Ministry of Health and the government of Liberia reaffirms its commitment through the Ministry of Health for a long and continuous partnership,” she said.
She emphasized the enduring partnership between the Ministry of Health, the government of Liberia, and Partners In Health to enhance healthcare delivery in the country. Dr. Cooper called on stakeholders to reflect on future challenges and collaborate towards improving healthcare services for the populace.
She commended PIH for their decade of service in Liberia and expressed optimism for a stronger partnership to transform the healthcare system for the benefit of all citizens. These remarks were delivered during Dr. Catherine Cooper’s visit to Harper, Maryland County, as part of the tenth-anniversary celebration of Partners In Health’s support in Liberia’s healthcare delivery system.
