The Principal of the Gbukan Public school has alarmed over the deteriorating condition of the school in upper Barclayville Education District.
According to John Saykay, the current look of the facility doesn’t present a conclusive learning environment for school going children of the community, despite of the numerous challenges confronting the administration.
He said due to appalling situation, sometimes lessons are deferred to a later date, especially during rainy season, due to leakages.
Sakay told newsman Monday that the existing structure of the school is a self-initiative project of the community, alleging that since the establishment of Gbukan past and current administrations are yet to consider constructing said facility in the area.
Gbukan is in electoral district number two headed by now embattled Speaker Fonati Koffa and is about 45minutes away from Grand Kru Provincial capital, Barclayville.
Principal John Saykay narrated that even though the lack of sitting capacities and limited teaching staffs are of Major priority that requires government prompt interventions, but constructing a modern school building should be key on the government’s development agenda, aimed at addressing the old age problem affecting the community.
He disclosed that, while the administration remains committed in providing quality education to the future leadership of Gbukan, the central government should adequately play her part by positively coming to their rescue.
Gbukan Public school acknowledged the efforts of the community in terms of their collective and individuals supports for the improvement of school, he in the same vein launched a possionately appeal to sons and daughters of the community for their intervention in positively contributing to the education sector of the Gbukan in Grand Kru County.
