The General Manager of the Royal Ambassador Hotel Roland Stiling has called for more basic skills training for Liberian citizens. Speaking Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in Unification Town, Marigibi County, when the West Africa Media Network presented him a certificate of honor, Stiling said there is a limited skill level in the country and he thinks it is a serious task for training institutions and the Ministry of Education.
He said though they conduct training for staff, people should have some basic skills before applying. According to him, the Royal Ambassador Hotel is more than just a luxurious hotel; it is a multi-million-dollar investment by MBI Liberia, a Christian humanitarian organization with the goal of boosting the Liberian economy and creating jobs for Liberians.
It is located near the Robertsfield International Airport and has been developed for several years and will soon be the largest event center in Liberia with several halls and 80 luxurious rooms.
He said the institution has a strong commitment to Liberia, which reflects in the way it operates; it did not use tax exemptions or benefits to reduce its tax contribution to the Government of Liberia and none of its profits will be transferred abroad; instead, it will all be reinvested in the hotel or other future projects with the same objective.
He said nearly all goods at the hotel are bought in Liberia, made by Liberian craftsmen, placing more focus on food & drinks and ingredients from Liberia and trying to avoid imported items.
“We are planning a cooperation with local farmers and will develop our own kitchen garden to grow fresh organic ingredients,” he said. He said the facility currently has more than 60 Liberian workers, with the hope of increasing to more than 100 when business develops.
