Monrovia – Cocky FC, a team in the lower women’s league, has secured promotion to the Upper Women’s Division after a 2-1 victory over Dolakeh FC on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The intense match, held at the famous Gompa Sports Stadium in Ganta City, Nimba County, attracted numerous women football enthusiasts.

Cocky FC overcame their previous disappointment of being denied qualification last weekend after a defeat to Kneeling Warriors. They remained focused against the Nimba County-based club, with Captain Hawa Sannoh scoring the match opener in the first half.
Dolakeh FC equalized in the second half, sparking celebrations in the stadium. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead, but their strikers missed several chances, leading to impressive saves by both goalkeepers. Yassah Gwaikolo was a major threat to Cocky FC’s defense but was repeatedly denied.
Cocky FC faced a well-structured defensive setup by Dolakeh FC, which challenged their counterattacking plays. However, with less than 10 minutes remaining, Mary Kieh scored the decisive goal, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Cocky FC.
Meanwhile, Kneeling Warriors also secured promotion to the Upper Women’s Division with a resounding 9-0 win over United Girls on Saturday at the Tusa Sports Pitch. Kneeling Warriors, formerly known as DC Shooters, will return to the top flight after being relegated last season.
Kneeling Warriors currently sits second on the league table, level on points with third-place Cocky FC, both having 49 points from 23 games. Cocky FC joins World Girls and Kneeling Warriors as the three clubs to qualify for the Upper Women’s Division, with just one game remaining in the lower women’s league season.
