Fallah embarked on a historic visit to Lofa County to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its establishment under the unification policy of President William V. S. Tubman. The Deputy Speaker’s visit was marked by a series of transformative initiatives aimed at fostering development, reconciliation, and unity in the county.
Engaging Leaders for Lofa’s Progress
Deputy Speaker Fallah’s visit began in Voinjama, where he joined President Joseph Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung, and Bong County Senator Prince Moye in commemorating the county’s milestone anniversary. Alongside Lofa County Superintendent Levela Massaquoi, the leaders inspected upgrades to the Voinjama Multilateral High School, highlighting modernized classrooms and labs as symbols of progress in education.
The delegation later participated in a unity and reconciliation meeting in Quardu Boni District before attending a celebratory football match between Lofa and Bong counties in Voinjama. Following the match, Deputy Speaker Fallah awarded medals to the victorious Bong County team, emphasizing the role of sports in uniting communities.
Promoting Peace and Reconciliation in Foya
In Foya, the Deputy Speaker facilitated high-level engagements with key figures, including Vice President Koung and Internal Affairs Minister Francis Sakila Nyumalin. Vice President Koung was honored as an honorary citizen of Foya, underscoring efforts to strengthen regional ties.
Deputy Speaker Fallah also reached out to families of individuals who lost their lives during the elections, providing financial and emotional support. His actions resonated deeply with locals, who viewed the gesture as a step toward healing and reconciliation.
Empowering Communities Through Development
The Deputy Speaker’s contributions extended beyond reconciliation. He oversaw the first Miss Foya competition in 15 years, where contestants received prizes, including motorbikes and cash awards. His wife, Madam Swedish Fallah, organized a Christmas celebration for children, spreading joy through gifts and festive activities.
Fallah’s support for infrastructure development was evident in his groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the Foya Tengia road, which is expected to improve connectivity and economic opportunities. Additionally, he pledged support for the rehabilitation of the Sorlumba and Porluma roads, critical trade routes linking Liberia with Guinea.
In Mendicorma, Deputy Speaker Fallah initiated the construction of a town hall and guest house to bolster cross-border economic activities between Liberia and Sierra Leone. Similarly, in Waum Statutory District, he dedicated a modern town hall in Bilibaindai Town and collaborated with local stakeholders on future development projects.
Celebrating Heritage and Paying Respects
Deputy Speaker Fallah demonstrated respect for Lofa’s cultural and religious heritage by attending the 40-day feast of Alhaji Abraham Kaillu Fofan, one of Foya’s founding figures. He donated cows, rice, and funds toward the reconstruction of the Foya mosque in honor of the late patriarch.
Fallah also attended the funeral of Pastor Joshua Isaac of the Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church, using the occasion to extend condolences and reconcile with individuals who may have felt alienated during the election period.
