During the recent presentation, Pastor Della Bella highlighted the initiative’s significance in fostering a strong relationship with the people of Lower Johnsonville, particularly during the festive season. She emphasized that the gesture was critical in uplifting the community during these challenging times.

Pastor Bella credited Bendu Benson, a Liberian residing in the United States, as the driving force behind the donation. Benson, motivated by her deep connection to her ancestral community, contributed to the initiative as a way of giving back to her roots.

Since its establishment in 2016, the Embrace Your Mind Foundation has made significant strides in supporting the community and addressing pressing needs. Pastor Bella enumerated the donated items, including half bags of 25 kg rice, baby diapers, and other essentials, which were distributed to the residents through the foundation and Benson’s support.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the timely donation, noting that it provided much-needed relief as the festive season approaches. They commended Benson and the foundation for showing empathy and maintaining a connection to the community.

Additionally, the foundation has previously carried out medical checkups and distributed medical supplies, further demonstrating its commitment to improving the well-being of the community.

The community leader praised the initiative as a meaningful intervention with a positive impact on residents, particularly young people and mothers. He emphasized that such support addresses critical challenges faced by vulnerable groups in the area.

The Embrace Your Mind Foundation was founded in 2016 to tackle Liberia’s mental health crisis, which has been exacerbated by years of civil conflict. Founder Bendu Benson observed widespread trauma in the population, often manifesting as aggression, stress, and other mental health struggles. This realization led to the establishment of the foundation to alleviate some of these challenges.

Research highlights that Liberia, with a population of over five million, has limited mental health facilities, underscoring a severe gap in mental health care services. The foundation’s efforts aim to bridge this gap while providing vital support to communities in need.
