Liberia: Former Finance Minister Tweah Finally Turns Himself Over For Prosecution

Monrovia-Former Finance Minister Samuel D Tweah, Jr. has finally turned himself over for prosecution by the state, following he and four others indictment by Criminal Court “A” on allegation of committing the crimes of
Economic Sabotage (Fraud on the Internal Revenue of Liberia; Misuse of Public money, property, or record; Theft and/or illegal disbursement and expenditure of public money), Theft of Property, Money Laundering, Criminal Facilitation, and Criminal Conspiracy.

FrontPageAfrica gathered that Tweah after month of being indicted, arrived in Liberia early Wednesday, September 25, at 9.A.M., after his lawyers has appealed that he and other four others trial be scheduled for early October.

He immediately appeared at Criminal Court “A”, following his arrival in Monrovia to face charges before him, which is expected to go on in October.

Tweah was indicted by Criminal Court “A” Days after the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) concluded its investigation to the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) alleged corruption saga, the grand jury of Montserrado, housed at Criminal Court ‘A’, has reindicted five former officials of President George Weah-led administration.

They are to face trial before the first judicial circuit, criminal Court, overseen by Judge Blamo Dixon.

The jury’s decision comes after reviewing the evidence presented to them, which noted that there were reasonable reasons for which all six (6) individuals, including, former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah, former Acting Justice Minister Samuel D. Tweah, former Minister of Finance, Cllr. Nyanti Tuan, former Acting Minister of Justice, and Solicitor General, Stanley S. Ford, former Director General of Financial Intelligence, D. Moses P. Cooper, former Financial Intelligence Comptroller, and Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor to President Weah we’re indicted for crimes before them.

The indictment was transferred to Criminal Court ‘A’ which is cloth with the legal responsibility to prosecute the crimes as alleged by the prosecutors.
