Kupee served as a senator in the National Legislature of Liberia, elected to the position in 2005.
Monrovia –Former Lofa County senator and Liberian Economist, Sumo G. Kupee, had died, aged 65.
FrontPageAfrica has gathered that Kupee died in his sitting room at his home in Banjor, Monrovia. However, FPA has not received a medical report concerning the actual cause of death.
Kupee served as a senator in the National Legislature of Liberia, elected to the position in 2005.
Kupee was also the Chairman of the Senate Ways, Means, Finance, and Budget Committee.
He later served as Managing Director of Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company during the second term of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration.
The late Kupee served as a Professor at the State-run University of Liberia, where he once served as Chairman of the Economic Department.
In the past, Kupee served in various capacities at the Ministry of Finance, where he began as Commissioner of the Bureau of Income Tax, progressing to Special Assistant and Policy Adviser to the Minister of Finance, and later becoming Commissioner of Customs and Excise, the last position he held before his demise.
He held a MSc in Development Economics from the People’s Friendship University of Russia (PFUR), Kupee taught at the University of Liberia from 1986-1997 and served as Chairman of the Department of Economics for six years.
