Mr. Darame told FrontPage Africa over the weekend that it’s time for Grand Cape Mount to compete and not to go into the tournament as underdogs.

He disclosed that several prominent personalities of the country, including Senator Simon Taylor, Representative Mohammed Dosii, Managing Director of the National Port Authority Mr. Mohammed Dukuly, the county’s Superintendent Honorable Folley Kiatamba, Mr. Boakai Jaleiba, and Mr. Thomas Foday Tucker have made significant contributions towards the team’s preparations through cash or kind.

“First of all, I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to all those who have identified with the team. We are also grateful to the county authority for the trust they have placed in us to steer the affairs of the county sports steering committee. I want to use this medium to extend my heartfelt thanks to those who reached out in making our justification and preparation a success.

“We are also calling on other sons and daughters of Grand Cape Mount County to quickly send in their support because time is going against us and it is time that we stand together to help our country’s sports team so that our athletes can deliver the result we need from them.” Darame said.

He added a major renovation is being carried out at the Momo Taweh Sports Stadium in Robertsport City in Grand Cape Mount County, one of the host venues for the preliminary round as Cape Mount will come face to face with Nimba County in Group one opening game.

“As I speak to you the county authority in collaboration with members of its Steering Committee are currently carrying on major renovation of the Momo Taweh Sports Stadium with additional seating capacities, the inner fence of the stadium and the upgrading of the fence itself.  So we are calling on all of our citizens to come in with their support so that we can restore the trust and put smiles on the faces of our people” Darame called.

He called on the head coaches of the county football and kickball teams to remain focused on the challenges ahead as they continue their intensive training for the county meet.

” Let me again extend my thanks and appreciation to our athletes who have been doing their best when it comes to the intensive training they continue to carry on as part of their preparation for the challenges ahead of them but I want to encourage them to focus their attention on the skills they are acquiring from the training.”
