Monrovia – The Government of Liberia, through the Anti-Smuggling Unit at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), is reportedly investigating a Lebanese owned company for alleged false declaration of goods brought into the country.

The company under investigation is 750 Enterprise, located on the Somalia Drive, outside Monrovia. The company brought into the country about 2,497 bags of flour, but falsely declared to the government, through the LRA and Commerce, that the commodity was burger wheat.

An Import Permit Declaration (IPD) issued to the company by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, a copy which is in the possession of FrontPage Africa, shows that the 750 Enterprise Company imported the flour from Turkey in mid-June this year.

The goods were purchased for US$30,476, including cost of insurance, freight, amongst others. The flour was packaged in five 20-footed containers and shipped at the Freeport of Monrovia.

In Liberia, it is a criminal offense to conceal goods or make a false declaration. It violates the Revenue Code of the country.
