During the signing ceremony, Mrs. Joseta Neufville Wento, Manager of the NRF, emphasized the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). She noted that the agreement seeks to facilitate, guide, and promote internship opportunities to equip students with valuable skills and experiences.

“This strategic partnership underscores our mutual commitment to enhancing vocational training and providing meaningful experiences for students in Liberia,” said Mrs. Neufville Wento.

The MoU serves as a cornerstone of the STRIVE project (Strengthening Integration through Vocational Training), which aims to create a robust framework for collaboration between the NRF and IECD. Mrs. Neufville Wento highlighted that the initiative would focus on developing and implementing effective internship programs, particularly within the road construction sector, to equip young Liberians with essential skills and practical experience.

Speaking on behalf of IECD, Country Director Mr. Guillaume Desjonquères stressed the importance of aligning vocational training with industry needs. He stated that the partnership would prioritize clear objectives and responsibilities to ensure students gain practical knowledge that prepares them for future employment.

“This initiative will actively engage with governmental bodies, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the curriculum meets industry standards and provides students with the tools needed for long-term success,” Mr. Desjonquères said.

The partnership between the NRF and IECD is expected to foster job creation and improve the quality of vocational training in Liberia, particularly in sectors critical to national development such as road construction. The initiative reflects both institutions’ dedication to empowering Liberian youth and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
