Margibi County- The National WASH Commission (NWASHC) has pledged its commitment to rebrand the institution in keeping with its strategic plan for 2025 and effectively deliver on its mandate in accordance with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) and the County Development Agendas (CDA).

Accordingly, the NWASHC’s three-day retreat would also provide the opportunity to review and validate policy documents that are intended to set the Commission on the right trajectory to exercise the core mandate within the act that created the institution.
Speaking during the opening session, Chief Executive Officer of the NWASHC, George W. K. Yarngo, explained that the retreat would staffers’ details narrative of the work plan developed and important programs to achieve in 2025 through their committed efforts
He noted that the planned program focused on several key issues, reflecting on some of the critical assignments, assessment of meaningful documents that were developed over the past few years and giving attention to implementations.
He further emphasized the need to focus on the issue of internal operation processes and procedures that support the NWASHC’s day-to-day operation.
Said Yarngo, “Some of the key documents we will be looking at today and in the next two or three days include our annual work plan or trying to set the priorities that are required for this plan. The plan has to be built on the National Development Plan (NDP) and the County Development Agendas CDAs.”
He emphasized, “No one better than you is capable of doing this work, as these are tools that we hope to improve our interactions with the border society and especially our service providers.”
“Let’s strive to bring all of the necessary capacities that we have and get the results anticipated.”
He also emphasized the need to look at the human resource policy and asset management control, stressing that the institution’s assets are very important. “ They are government assets, we need to know how to use and control them,” he said.
Yarngo, however, said there will also be vigorous policy documents that would be developed to establish water companies in the country.
He cautioned water companies wanting to operate in Liberia to provide quality equipment for citizens across the country, emphasizing to validation policy that will set the path to deliver to the population of Liberia safe drinking water and avoiding waterborne disease
“As you are aware, our critical mandate and function is to lead on the development of policy instruments necessary for the water sector,” he said.
