…Of Boakai’s Intervention In Saga
Liberia-The majority Bloc of the House of Representatives has issued a statement debunking a social media post suggesting that President Joseph Boakai has intervened in the situation occurring at the lower House to oust Speaker Fonati Koffa.
In a statement the bloc noted, “It has come to our attention that a misleading post is circulating on social media, falsely claiming that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has intervened in the affairs of the House of Representatives and instructed Vice President Koung to “dismantle the Anti-Koffa bloc.”
“We wish to categorically refute this baseless claim. At no time has President Boakai intervened in this matter, nor has he issued any instructions regarding the structure or activities of the Majority Members of the House,” the statement noted.
According to the Anti-Kpffa lawmakers, this fabrication is a clear tactic by detractors aiming to create confusion and sow division among members of the majority. “We call on all members of the public and media to disregard this attempt to undermine the unified efforts of the majority members, who remain resolute and unwavering in our commitment to remove J. Fonati Koffa as Speaker. This determination stems from a deep desire to restore honor, transparency, and dignity to the House of Representatives.”
The statement under the signature of Rep. Samuel Kogar, head of the Majority Bloc noted that the majority stands firm in its conviction and will not be swayed by rumors or misinformation.
“Our collective goal is to ensure the highest standards of accountability and integrity within Liberia’s legislative body. We urge our supporters and all Liberians to stay focused on this mission and to reject any attempts at distraction or deceit,” the statement concluded.
