Liberia-The Government of Liberia through the management of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has disclosed plans to import petroleum products into the country.
If accomplished under the leadership of Managing Director Amos Tweh it will be the first time the country through its government entity to import petroleum to reduce the constraint the citizens have been undergoing due to the high prices of petroleum products by the private sector.
A statement on the LPRC’s official social media page indicated that the management made a landmark declaration, unveiling plans to import petroleum products into the country for the first time in its history.
The LPRC statement further revealed that it will venture into gas importation in July-August 2025, emphasizing upon completion of the 17K Matrix Tons Storage Facility currently under construction.
The Statement further asserted that the expansion will enable the institution to transition from solely providing storage facilities for importers to directly importing petroleum products.
Moreover, the proactive LPRC Managing Director Amos Tweh disclosed strategies for the construction of a state-of-the-art testing laboratory within the LPRC compound.
According to the statement from the LPRC Boss upon completion of the 17K Metric Ton Petroleum storage facility, the LPRC MANAGEMENT will commence petroleum importation to offer wholesale prices to importers that are competitive with international prices.
