Liberia–In a shocking turn of event, Cllr Moriah Yeakula-Korkpor has called for Citizens action to remove Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon.

This was revealed on her official Facebook page, where she detailed several instances of the Senator’s failures and broken promises to the people. According to Cllr Yeakula-Korkpor, the fact that as citizens, they are the employers of their elected officials and have the right to remove them from office if they have not lived up to their duties and responsibilities.

This unexpected development has caused stir among the public and has left many wondering about the fate of Senator Dillon.  She added on her Facebook page that Senator Dillon promised to be the light in the Senate when he was elected, based on his promises to be the light in a dark Senate but all they could see is that Senator Dillon shone his dull light which was confirmed that Senators were making US$15,000 per month.

“Dillon as a Senator continued the business as usual by taking every penny apportioned to themselves, monies he condemned before,” Cllr. Yeakula-Korkpor said.

Cllr. Korkpor noted that Dillon promised to only take US$5,000 out of the US$15,000 and give the US$10,000 to be used by the Montserrado County Council for development purposes as he has broken that promise and instead claims that he rerouted that money to a shelter for drug-affected youth, usurping the functions of the executive in holistically dealing with the grim issue of drug addiction nationally.

Cllr. Yeakula-Korkpor emphasized that, “Article 1 provides that all power is inherent in the people. All free governments are instituted by their authority and for their benefit and they have the right to alter and reform the same when their safety and happiness so require. In order to ensure democratic government which responds to the wishes of the governed, the people shall have the right at such period, and in such manner as provided for under this Constitution, to cause their public servants to leave office and to fill vacancies by regular elections and appointments,” Cllr Yeakula-Korkpor added.
