Liberia-Four employees of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) have departed Liberia for an intensive short-term training in India.
The training is a gesture from the Government of India through the Indian Technical and Economic Corporation Program of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. According to a Press release, the training in India is intended to deepen the knowledge of the MCC employees by building their capacity to ensure efficiency and productivity at the Monrovia City Corporation.
The beneficiaries for the training opportunities include, Workteh Nyemie-Department of Finance; Yusuf Konneh-Supervisor for Youth Affairs; Faith Joy Mah-Director-Public Waste Management and Munir Abdullah Pabai-Revenue Analyst.
According to the MCC release, the employees are expected to go through several weeks of intensive training in various fields relative to the function of their departments.
Speaking at a program prior to the departure of the team, the Mayor of Monrovia, Mr. John-Charuk Siaffa, said the MCC under his administration is focused on restructuring and reforming the Corporation through intensive capacity building opportunities.
The Mayor lauded the Government and People of India for the opportunity while admonishing the employees to be passionate and take seriously the training. The Monrovia City Mayor revealed that scores of international capacity building opportunities are in the pipeline for deserving employees of the MCC to benefit from.
“The MCC under my watch will provide you with the tools and capacity you need to drive the vision of making Monrovia better,” he said.
For their part, two of the employees who spoke on behalf of the team, lauded the Mayor for the opportunity to hone their skills at some of the best performing universities in India. They expressed excitement about what they termed as unprecedented and assured the Mayor of their commitment and unflinching support to promote the vision of transforming the Monrovia City Corporation.
