Liberia-The Sethi Brothers Company in Liberia has received widespread commendation for its prompt and effective response to the fire outbreak at the Capitol Building, home to the Liberian Legislature, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
The fire, which posed a significant threat to the historic Joint Chambers, was swiftly contained thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Sethi Brothers’ fire truck, along with the Liberia National Fire Service, Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), and Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) tankers that provided essential water supply on site.
The timely intervention by the Sethi Brothers played a critical role in minimizing potential damage to the iconic legislative building. Onlookers and staff expressed their gratitude for the professionalism demonstrated by the team during the emergency.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Crtickla Ilunga, head of the Sethi Brothers’ response team, highlighted the company’s commitment to public safety, even as he sustained minor injuries during the operation. “We appreciate the unwavering support of the Sethi Brothers to the Liberian government and its people,” remarked an employee who witnessed the incident. “Their swift response shows they are true partners in Liberia’s development.”
Other agencies, including the Liberia National Fire Service, LWSC, and LPRC, contributed significantly to the effort, ensuring the fire was contained with minimal damage. A spokesperson for the legislative staff praised the collaboration, stating, “We extend our thanks to all involved for their professionalism and teamwork during this critical incident. This reflects the highest standards of service and dedication to our country.”
Though the incident caused panic among workers and visitors at the Capitol Building, the rapid and coordinated response from all involved averted a potential disaster.
