There is a lot of pouring out of Season’s Greetings and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year sentiments. But the Reason for the Season is just left at the level of talk and there is no walk the talk. Throughout the months of November and December, one can read in the newspapers and hear on the radio a lot of talking about having a good time and buying gifts, Our Preacher told us about how a child told him that his Christmas was on him, the Preacher. So, the Preacher tried to outsmart him by displaying his clothing and saying take your Christmas. But the child told the Preacher that his Christmas was in the Preacher’s pocket. The child caught the Preacher red-handed.

One man took his Wife on the beach to catch some seasonal sea breeze. But he left after fifteen minutes because he saw a lot of females literally naked while the males were not. So, the man said to his Wife: Let us leave because this is a Bad reason for the Season with the females exhibiting their bodies as if they were in their bed rooms. Why were not the males naked as well when we are living in a country whose Constitution calls for the equality of Gender? Some people go as far as to commit murder when they do not get their Christmas gifts. The newspapers are reporting the murder of a Father by his son because the Father did not give the son a Christmas gift. Imagine!
An Imam expressed surprise at the news of the Christmas murders. He made this expression because the purpose of life is to save lives rather than take lives. Only God gives and only God should take away. We are talking about the taking away of lives but we are not forgetting about public stealing. This stealing is known as corruption. The immediate past governments of Liberia and the present all agree that corruption is the biggest enemy of the State of Liberia. Up to now, there is no action in motion to stop and prevent corruption. This stealing of the people’s money has to stop because it has become the reason for poverty which has become the pretext for violence.
The people of Liberia say that Liberia is headed in the Wrong Direction because Liberia has become violent-oriented (Afrobarometer, 2022). You have just read about the murder of the Father by the son because the Father did not give the son a Christmas present. Here, we have the opportunity to know the Reason for this Season that we are in. The Reason for the Season is to motivate people to do good rather than to do bad. To do good is to serve others rather than be served by others. To do bad is to be served by others rather than to serve others. To do good is to give to others. To do bad is to steal from others. the people who want to unseat any person because of money rather than the Rule of Law.
The good news is that the people who love Liberia are motivated to do good in this Season. They are doing good by exposing the corrupt practices of the National Election Commission (NEC) of Liberia. this exposure if transforming the unfair prevailing electoral system into the fair enduring electoral system. It is this transformation that is getting persons with good records to get elected to bring in the system of Justice, the indispensable ingredient for Peace and Progress in Liberia and any other country.
SERVE RATHER THAN BE SERVED DURING THIS SEASON AND ALWAYS.
