Monrovia – Remote Health Reach, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), has launched the Liberia Malaria Youth Corps. This initiative seeks to galvanize youth participation in malaria prevention and control while strategizing robust measures to eliminate the disease across the country.

The launch event, held at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia, gathered health practitioners, students, and media representatives under the theme “Zero Malaria Starts with Me.”

In his remarks, the Executive Director of Remote Health Reach, Mr. Elijah S. Tingban, emphasized the importance of the initiative in combating malaria, which continues to take a heavy toll on communities, especially among vulnerable groups such as children under five years old and pregnant women.

“As young people, it is critical for us to take the lead in eliminating this preventable disease. Malaria control requires active engagement and commitment from all sectors, especially the youth, who have the energy and influence to drive change,” Tingban stated.

The Liberia Malaria Youth Corps aims to raise awareness about malaria’s impact while promoting preventative measures such as the use of insecticide-treated bed nets, access to early diagnosis and treatment, and community education.

Through this initiative, stakeholders hope to empower young people to serve as advocates and agents of change, leveraging their networks and innovative approaches to help achieve the broader goal of a malaria-free Liberia.

The launch is part of the ongoing “Zero Malaria Starts with Me” campaign, a global movement that underscores the collective responsibility to end malaria and highlights the critical role of local efforts in achieving this goal.
