Frederick Tulay, one of the 200 athletes currently training as a center defender, praised the academy’s efforts in enhancing their skills. He highlighted improvements in ball control and overall discipline both on and off the field.

“The training is very encouraging,” Tulay said. “I joined this academy because I believe it offers great opportunities. I will continue to give my best in hopes of being among those selected to remain with the academy.”

Wallie B. Weah, a 17-year-old defensive midfielder, also shared his positive experience. He emphasized the academy’s focus on instilling good behavior and tactical awareness.

“Our coaches are teaching us how to conduct ourselves as players, even under pressure,” Weah noted. “The quality of the training and equipment here has convinced me that this program will help improve my football skills, especially in controlling the ball against opponents.”

Abdulah Barry, a 16-year-old striker, said his goal is to become one of the academy’s standout players and eventually represent Liberia’s national football team, the Lone Star.

“My dream is to succeed both at the academy and with the Lone Star,” Barry stated. “The skills we are gaining here are helping us prepare for future challenges in football, and I am very happy with the progress.”

Osman Bah, one of several goalkeepers at the academy, described the training as timely and impactful.

“The skills I’ve gained in just two months show that this academy is serious about preparing us for a better future,” Bah said. “I am committed to staying focused and making the most of this opportunity.”

The athletes also extended their gratitude to the academy’s Chief Executive Officer, Liberia’s Sports Ambassador, Mr. Alioune Kebe.

Mr. Kebe disclosed that the Liberia Sports Academy was established in November 2024 as part of his effort to develop the skills of Liberian youth, particularly those passionate about football.

“When the academy was launched, we received about 500 athletes. That number has since reduced to 200, and we are working to develop their football skills and prepare them for professional careers, inspired by the success of former Sports Ambassador George Weah,” Kebe said.

He praised the athletes’ enthusiasm but urged them to remain focused and punctual in their training sessions. Kebe assured them of his continued support in areas such as education and healthcare, emphasizing the importance of their development.
