LIPO Concludes National IP Awareness Campaign Today | News

The Liberia Intellectual Property Office (LIPO) will today close its three-month public awareness campaign on promoting respect for intellectual property (IP) rights among the public.

The campaign, which has been a cornerstone in advancing public understanding of IP’s vital role in innovation, creativity, and Liberia’s economic growth, will be concluded at the Invincible Park near Fish Market on Congo Town Boulevard.

The awareness drive, which also utilized social media platforms and a weekly radio hour, directly aligns with President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST agenda. It seeks to empower citizens and businesses with knowledge about IP protection, promoting economic empowerment, technological development, and national progress.

Garmai Koboi, Director General of LIPO, emphasized that the three-month campaign had not just fostered public understanding about IP but also created a culture of innovation and protected the creative spirit of Liberians.

“Intellectual property is the engine of economic empowerment and technological advancement,” Hon. Koboi said. “We are proud of the awareness we’ve raised, but this is only the beginning.”

Jamus P. Bannah, Program and Outreach Manager at LIPO, noted the public’s enthusiasm during the campaign has been fantastic.

“This closing event is an opportunity to solidify what we’ve achieved and ensure everyone knows how to protect their innovations and ideas,” Bannah said.

The closing ceremony, according to LIPO, will feature staff engaging directly with the public on IP-related matters and offering on-site registration technical services.

Attendees are expected to receive expert advice on protecting their intellectual property and learn how to register trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

The public is encouraged to attend this landmark event, which highlights IP’s role in Liberia’s journey toward economic resilience and technological advancement.
