The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) says it will begin deployment of newly graduated officers in early January 2025.

Monday, December 23, 2024/Acting LIS Commissioner-General Elijah F. Rufus disclosed to the New Dawn on Sunday, December 22, 2024, that the fresh deployment aimed at Strengthening Border- Security.
“As of January 6, 2025, we will begin deploying these newly graduated officers, and we aim to strengthen surveillance, border-Security- Acting LIS Commissioner Rufus disclosed.
According to him, the mass deployment of over 500 immigration Officers will cut across the counties and hard-to-reach areas.
“There are some counties where our presence is not well-felt.” So, we are going to deploy these men in different areas,” Acting LIS Commissioner Rufus added.
Early this month, the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) graduated at least 517 recruited officers from its Joseph Boakai Training Academy in Foya, Lofa County.
The Immigration personnel had undergone a six-week intensive training in immigration formalities.
Liberia has struggled to manage its porous borders for years, with several illegal entries. The latest deployment of officers is expected to help reduce the number of unlawful entries and boost border security. -Edited by Othello B. Garblah.
