An alleged 40-year-old murderer of his girlfriend at 32 was arraigned before the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice last Thursday to answer to the crime brought against him.
The defendant identified as Big-Boy Jallah Defendant Big Boy Jallah was alleged to have stab Ms Krubo David multiple times in her stomach and on her neck around her esophagus, resulting to profused bleeding leading to her her death on the October 17,2024 on the Duport Road, Bassa Town community, outside Liberia’s Captal, Monrovia.
Our judicial correspondent quoted court records as saying the knife used to murder Ms. David was retrieved from the scene and is to be used as one of the prosecution’s evidences during the trial of defendant Jallah for murder.
Jallah could get a life sentence if If convicted as dictated by current murder law which abolished death penalty for life imprisonment.
Defendant Jallah has been charged by the Liberian National Police with murder and aggravated assault, and has been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison, after a brief hearing pending trial.
According to court documents, the incident was reported by the deceased biological son, Genesis Kokulo. Genesis said Defendant Jallah, his stepfather, was escaping their room having killed his mother, whe he stepped on his foot thereby awakening him from sleep.
He told investigators that as usual, he was asleep on the floor in the same room with his stepfather Jallah and his mother Krubo when he noticed that his stepfather has killed his mother and was trying to escape when his foot hit him(Genesis) thereby awakening him from sleep at whichbtime he discovered his mother in the pool of blood.
Genesis woke up immediately, at which time he called his mother, who told him that she was dying and her murderer was trying to escape. It was at the time Genesis realized that his mother was unconscious, he raised the alarm by informing Mrs. Kebbeh Kolubah that her daughter has been killed and the defendant was escaping from the scene.
When the neighbour heard Genesis shouting, they started to chase the defendant, until they got at the Duport Road market check point where the defendant was later arrested and taken to the headquarters of the Liberia National Police (LNP,).
reports said It was the police who had charged the defendant before sending him to the court for prosecution.
Before his mother’s death, Genesis testified during an investigation that his stepfather, now defendant ,has been in the constant habit of threatening to kill the deceased. 0ften, the defendant had ran after the deceased to implement his plan, a claimed defendant the had denied.
According to the police, the act of defendant Jallah is in violation of Chapter 14. sections 14.20, and 14.1 respectively of the revised Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia.
