In a statement released Monday, the Majority Members characterized the attack as an ‘undemocratic and unacceptable effort’ to prevent the majority from fulfilling their responsibilities to the Liberian people.
They expressed their unwavering commitment to the rule of law and democratic principles, asserting their resolve to continue legislative proceedings despite these disruptive tactics.
“These unlawful actions only strengthen our commitment to upholding the mandate given to us by the Liberian people and restoring trust, honor, and decency to the Honorable House,” the statement read.
The Majority Bloc members called on all leaders and citizens to denounce actions that undermine Liberia’s democracy.
The statement further emphasized that this act of intimidation would not deter them from representing the interests of their constituents or addressing critical issues facing the country in a transparent and responsible manner.
The Majority Members criticized the Speaker and a group of what they described as “desperate collaborators,” accusing them of gross misconduct that has eroded the trust and confidence of the Liberian people.
They argued that such actions deepen public frustration and reinforce the need for a change in leadership to ensure the House remains focused on serving national interests.
The release signed by the Samual G. Kogar, Representative of Electoral District #5, Nimba County and Chairman of the Majority Bloc assured the Liberian public that the work of the House of Representatives would continue responsibly and decisively.
“The business of Liberia will proceed as mandated, without intimidation or obstruction”, Rep. Kogar assured.
