Margibi, Liberia, November 15, 2024-The Margibi Local Bar, comprising about 19 members, elects new individuals to steer its affairs in the county.
The election was held early this week in the 13th Judicial Circuit Court Room in Kakata, Margibi, immediately after the official opening of the November term of court with 10 of the bar members in attendance.
Attorney Alex T. Johnson, president; Attorney Thomas Preson Bombo, vice president, on a white ballot; and Attorney Fumba A. M. Swaray, secretary, were elected.
The treasurer position, according to the commission that conducted the election, was not voted for.
Approximately nine of the 19 members were absent during the opening of the court.
Speaking to reporters after his reelection as president, Attorney Alex T. Johnson, the incumbent who also served as secretary of the local bar before, expressed delight in the competitive nature of the election, noting that he has been tested.
Atty. Johnson, who told reporters that he would not hasten to let the cat out of the bag for his second term, said that his leadership started doing some things, but time caught up with them.
He added that they will however, consider purchasing a parcel of land for the bar to have its own office for the first time. Editing by Jonathan Browne
