In the face of  the shortage of medical doctors in Grand Kru County, the Ministry of Health has deployed two specialized doctors at the Rally Hospital  Grancess City  including a  family medicine specialist and an  internist.
Although names of the  two specialists were not disclosed,  the GNN’s  Grand Kru Correspondent  quoted  the Grand Kru County Health Officer  Dr. Learwellie P. Dr. Craig  extolled the Minister of Health for the ministry’s  interventions in rescuing the County Health Team of Grand Kru,  and said he looks forward for more support in addressing the numerous challenges confronting the health sector in the county.
Speaking to GNN on Tuesday October 29,2024 at his Office in Barclayville,  Dr. Craig  disclosed that the County Health Team through it’s budgetary allotment has procured essential drugs for health facilities within the county.
He disclosed that the procurement was done by the County Health Team positively affected stationary, IPC,  materials, building materials, gross cutting machines, computers  amongst others.
Most importantly, he added that  the purchase of drugs are key to the effective and smooth operations of the Health system in Grand Kru County, and as such those procurements will go a long way towards addressing the medical needs of citizens at all levels.
” We are hoping that health allotment  and disbursements  to the county will be constant and timely at every level of the county, pointing out that it is frustrating that when patients walked long distances and get to health facilities for treatment, they are disappointingly given prescriptions to look for drugs by themselves instead of been served treatment at the health centers.
He therefore  hopes  that when these items come into the county, the people of Grand Kru   will realize some relief.
The County’s Chief Health Administrator named Rally Time, Sasstown hospitals, Barclayville, Behway, Gbalopo, Gbanken Buah, Bolloh New Town, including two other clinics, amounting to ten facilities currently benefiting from government allotments   in the national budget, with each having a separate budget.
CHO, Dr. Craig, maintained that the execution of these allotments is guided by the Ministry of Health cash based plans, and each  facility head is  charged with the responsibility to submit to the County Health Team priority expenditure plans before  disbursement approval by the Minister of Health.
The Grand Kru  Health Officer  asserted that the Ministry of Health has committed to addressing the situation of insufficient ambulances within the County soon.
It can be referenced that the county now has only one functional ambulance in Grand Kru County.
