-The lack of logistics given as reason for the unfortunate incident

During a police operation in Ganta ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities, the Liberian National Police apprehended two individuals known for engaging in street attacks. One of the suspects, Karlu Dorleh, aged 30, resisted arrest and reportedly assaulted Inspector Daniel Gbalia, resulting in injuries to his face and arm during transportation via motorcycle to the station.

Despite the altercation, the officer was able to bring the suspect into custody. According to Ganta Zone Commander Supt. Christopher Mansuo, the arrested individuals had a history of disruptive behaviour, including burglary, harassment, and robbery against citizens in the area.

“He even attempted to take the arm from the officer, but the officer managed to hold control of him and took him to the station,” Mansuo said. “The two men are highly notorious and already burglarizing, harassing, and arm rubbing peaceful citizens on the main street with no fear.”

He named suspects as Karlu Dorleh, age 30 and Michel Dahn, cka 94. The suspects were successfully apprehended and charged with armed robbery, robbery, and harassment before being transferred to court.

“We have been in search of them for a long time and today, we were able to get hold of them, where they have been charged and transferred to court,’ he said.

“Their presence on the street poses a threat to travellers and even the ordinary citizens who are about their normal duty at night,” he said.

The authorities expressed concerns about the lack of adequate vehicles, which can hinder patrol effectiveness, especially during nighttime operations. Inspector Gbalia highlighted the risks associated with using motorcycles for police transport, particularly in situations involving resistant suspects

“Using a motorcycle poses a risk to the lives of the police, even the suspected criminal,” said OPS Daniel Gbalia. “It was the criminal who we were  bringing on the bike that got wounded, because the man was fighting and even wanted to seize my arm.”
