President Joseph Nyuma Boakai travels to Accra, Ghana, today, January 6, 2025, to attend the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and Vice President-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
The invitation to this historic event underscores the strong bond of friendship and cooperation that have long existed between Liberia and Ghana. It also reaffirms both nations’ commitment to fostering regional unity, promoting democratic governance, and advancing development in West Africa.
President Boakai’s participation in this significant occasion further highlights Liberia’s steadfast dedication to regional peace, stability, and mutual collaboration.
While in Accra, President Boakai is expected to engage with fellow Heads of State, dignitaries, and international partners to strengthen Liberia’s diplomatic ties and explore opportunities for continued bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The President is accompanied by First Lady Kartumu Y. Boakai as well as senior government officials, including Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Information Minister Jerolimek M. Piah, Minister of State without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia Antoinette M. Wolo, and Liberia Maritime Commissioner General Neto Z. Lighe.
While the President is away, Honorable Sylvester M. Grigsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, will chair the Cabinet in consultation with the Vice President while in constant contact with the President.

President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia immediately following the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
