The Management of K & K Trading Corporation wish to clarify several points regarding our commitment to consumer safety and the integrity of our operations which has been called into question by unsubstantiated alleged report by the Variety Newspaper (Vol. 1 NO. 46; Wednesday October 30, 2024) and subsequently carried on the morning show talk show (??) and other print and social media.
Commitment to Consumer Health and Safety: Our company prioritize the health and safety of Liberian consumers, which is evident in our strict quality control protocols. Each shipment of rice undergoes thorough inspections to ensure that only safe, quality products enter the market. Any suggestion that we knowingly distribute compromised products runs counter to our established operational standards.
Concerns Over Misleading Media Evidence: We understand the public concern generated by the videos and photos shared online; however, these materials can often lack full context and can be easily misinterpreted or manipulated. The footage in question does not reflect standard practices at our warehouses, and we urge both the media and the public to consider an impartial, fact-based approach as the investigation progresses.
Transparency and Ongoing Cooperation with Authorities: We are actively cooperating with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to address these claims and welcome inspections of our facilities by both government and independent oversight bodies. Transparency remains a core value of our company, and we are fully committed to a thorough investigation to verify the high standards we uphold.
Strict Compliance with Ethical Standards: We categorically deny any allegations of bribery or collusion with inspectors to bypass regulatory oversight. Our business operates under strict ethical guidelines, and we remain committed to upholding these principles in all areas of our operations. Any instance of non-compliance within our organization would be addressed with appropriate accountability measures.
Challenges in Food Storage and Infrastructure: Liberia’s tropical climate and infrastructure limitations present unique challenges for food storage. Our company have invested in storage facilities and best practices to mitigate these challenges, and we are continuously looking for ways to further improve. We are open to working with the Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure that all products meet acceptable standards for quality and safety.
Reassuring the Public and Strengthening Consumer Confidence: As a proactive measure, we are conducting additional internal audits and have initiated an independent review to further validate our product safety. Additionally, we encourage consumers to report any concerns directly to our dedicated customer service lines, allowing for swift action where needed.
We are committed to upholding the trust of Liberian consumers and believe this investigation, grounded in transparency and fact, will clear any misconceptions. Our company stands by our dedication to safe and ethical business practices and will continue working closely with regulatory authorities to ensure only the highest quality products reach the market.
