-Embarks on empowerment initiative
In an ambitious effort to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Fuamah and Sanoyea, District #7 Representative Foday Fahnbulleh has launched a transformative initiative aimed at empowering the motorcycling community.
On Sunday, December 29, Representative Fahnbulleh distributed thirty motorbikes to young people in the district, fulfilling his campaign promise to foster economic growth and provide opportunities for self-reliance.
District #7, like many other regions in Liberia, grapples with high youth unemployment. A significant portion of the district’s young population is either jobless or relies heavily on artisanal mining, a sector that has long served as a lifeline for families.
However, mining alone cannot sustain the district’s growing youth demographic, leaving many young people without stable sources of income.
Speaking on the challenges, Hon. Foday Fahnbulleh stated; “For too long, our youth have struggled to find stable sources of income. Many of them depend on mining, but we must create other avenues for them to thrive. It is time to empower our young people with tools and opportunities that ensure a better future for themselves and their families.”
The motorbike distribution initiative represents a strategic response to these challenges. By providing thirty young people with motorbikes, Hon. Fahnbulleh aims to empower them to engage in entrepreneurial activities, such as motorcycle taxi services, which are in high demand in the district.
He said; “These motorbikes are more than just vehicles—they are tools for progress. They will help our young people earn a living, improve mobility within the district, and contribute to the overall economic development of Fuamah and Sanoyea.”
The initiative has been met with widespread appreciation from the community. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, with many highlighting how the motorbikes would transform their lives.
Hon. Fahnbulleh’s initiative is part of his broader vision to create sustainable opportunities for District #7. He envisions a district where young people have access to diversified income sources, reducing over-reliance on mining and fostering long-term economic resilience.
“The future of Fuamah and Sanoyea depends on the success of our youth,” Hon. Fahnbulleh said. “Together, we can transform District #7 into a hub of innovation and opportunity. This motorbike initiative is just the beginning, and I am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure our young people have every chance to succeed”. He stressed.
The motorbike distribution aligns with the goals of the Unity Coalition, which emphasizes youth empowerment and sustainable community development. Moving forward, Hon. Fahnbulleh has pledged to collaborate with community leaders, businesses, and government entities to develop additional programs that tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods in District #7.
“This is a call to action,” he concluded. “We need all hands on deck to create more opportunities for our youth. Their success is the foundation for our district’s progress.”
