— LCAA and Brussels Airlines Forge Training Partnership
Liberia’s aviation sector is set for a transformative boost as the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) and Brussels Airlines formalize a groundbreaking partnership to elevate air traffic control training standards. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed on January 8, 2025 by LCAA Director-General Mr. Julius D. Dennis, Jr., and Brussels Airlines Country Manager Ms. Marjolein J. Six, marks a milestone in the nation’s journey toward safer and more efficient skies.
This strategic agreement paves the way for the comprehensive training of six approach controllers and three aerodrome controllers. The training, tailored to address key gaps identified in the 2022 International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit, is designed to enhance Liberia’s air traffic management capabilities.
Approach controllers will undergo an intensive one-month program, while aerodrome controllers will engage in a three-month training session. Both programs will be conducted in Accra, Ghana, leveraging world-class facilities and expertise.
The partnership comes after months of meticulous negotiations, underscoring the shared commitment of LCAA and Brussels Airlines to advancing aviation safety and operational excellence. By investing in the development of its personnel, LCAA demonstrates its commitment to aligning with international standards and ensuring sustainable growth in Liberia’s aviation industry.
“This collaboration not only addresses critical training needs but also sets the stage for a more robust air traffic control system in Liberia,” remarked Mr. Dennis during the signing ceremony. Ms. Six echoed his sentiments, highlighting Brussels Airlines’ pride in contributing to Liberia’s aviation progress.
With this partnership, Liberia takes a significant step toward enhancing its air traffic control infrastructure, fostering safer skies, and improving service delivery across its aviation sector. This initiative not only strengthens operational capabilities but also reinforces Liberia’s position on the global aviation map.
