WLI Ageing Project Clocks Two Years, Several “Senior Citizens” Celebrated

A  faith-based non-for-profit organization under the banner of World of Life International (WLI) on Sunday, October 20, 2024 commemorated the second year anniversary of its ageing program.

WLI was established in 1998 with a branch in the United States and also obtained Consultative Status with the United Nations in 2018. Since then, the WLI has been accredited as an International NGO by the Liberian Government and has been engaged in various programs in Liberia with funding from its USA Office.

The ageing project was initiated on October 20, 2022 with the mission of mission, “Reaching the Unreached.” It aims to identify and assist individuals facing challenges related to food, health, and counseling. The organization’s vision is to connect people with resources to restore community pride and encourage self-reliance. The Ageing Project aims to ensure the well-being of old folks and since then has contributing to the well-being of some old folks.

During the second anniversary program, Ma Mary Kpah – a 103-year-old lady and 34 other beneficiaries of WLI were offered prayers and showered praises for their long-standing positive impacts in society.

Speaking at the anniversary celebration, Madam Rebecca Nyomndo, acting focal person explained that the initiative in making a positive impact within the community.

“It is essential for us to ensure that this program is recognized across the continent,” she said.

With great sense of appreciation for their ages, Nyomndo expressed expressed excitement in working to achieve their well-being. 

“It is indeed a great honor to serve as an agent for World of Life International since October 20, 2022, and to assist aging individuals in our community,” she stated.

According to her, WLI has initiated numerous activities, including health check-ups, the most recent of which took place in April 2024. The organization began with 30 beneficiaries and has since expanded to 35 beneficiaries in Liberia.

Nyomndo also acknowledged the loss of some beneficiaries over the years. “We extend our condolences to the families of those who have passed away since the program’s inception,” she said. “We are grateful for the grace of God that allows those aged 60 and above to continue living and thriving.”

She encouraged all beneficiaries to pray for continued blessings and wisdom as they navigate their journeys. “Let us continue to support one another and strive for a better future,” she concluded.
